Trading in old clothes for Organic Vegetables

One thing I absolutely love about where I live is the access we have to so many local farms. Within a ten mile radius of home are more than 20 small scale farms operated by our friends and neighbors. One such farm has found a new and slightly unusual venue for their beautiful produce. Little Field Farm not only operates a lovely Farm Stand at their farm, they also have a satellite location right in the center of town.

While we have lots of farms where we live, we also have lots of mountains, and some of the best rock and ice climbing in the Northeast. International Mountain Equipment is the center of the climbing culture here. They offer guided climbs, as well as operating an eclectic shop with old and new gear for outdoor enthusiasts. This past year, they have added a cooler of fresh locally grown veggies from Little Field Farm.

I have been taking advantage of consigning my unwanted gear, turning it into “IME Bucks” and using that credit to purchase produce.
The best part of this? They are keeping clothes out of the landfill, someone is getting really nice gear for a great price, and I am supporting two local business in the process.

Now that’s a win!
